Check-in #1

These past few weeks have been busy. I’ve been making simple meals but they have been whole foods and wholly nutritious, but a lot of the same just because it’s been easy and did not required a lot of food prep. Like I said been very busy and I wanted to stick to this lifestyle change. So sometimes simple and not so exciting seems to work best for me.

I am not expecting quick weight loss on this plan. For me it’s going to be about changing my lifestyle in order to promote optimal health and then I know the weight loss will occur.

Without knowing it looks as though I’m following a Volumetric Diet with an Ayurvedic twist.

What is a volumetric a diet?

The Volumetrics Diet categorizes food into four groups based on its caloric density. The Volumetrics Diet emphasizes eating nutrient-dense, low-calorie foods, such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains and low-fat dairy.

What is Ayurveda?

It is a natural system of medicine, originated in India more than 3,000 years ago. The term Ayurveda is derived from the Sanskrit words ayur (life) and veda (science or knowledge). Ayurveda translates to knowledge of life. Based on the idea that disease is due to an imbalance of energies. Ayurveda encourages certain lifestyle changes and natural therapies to regain a balance between the body, mind, spirit, and the environment. These might include diet changes, exercise, and meditation.

So I’m eating nutrient-dense, low-calorie foods, such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains and low-fat dairy that focus on my Ayurveda imbalance of Kapha and Vata. More about that in another post.

Here are some pictures of what I ate over the past few weeks. And guess what? No cravings and I feel full. Getting back on track.

Loving the TikToks from Broccoli Mum. They help keep me on track and give me tips and hints to keep going. Also love Hungry Girl.
