Hello, again…

Hello friend! It’s been sometime, who am I kidding it’s been four years since my last post. So, much has happened. Lots of life changes, both good and not so great, and of course COVID. During this time I was working from home, as I’m sure you were. I loved it. I was living my best life by being my best self…cooking healthy, practicing meditation and yoga asana, walking with Hailey, my dog, three times per day as well as drumming until my heart was content. I was fit not only physically but spiritually and emotionally.

Then, about this time last year, I and fellow co-workers were called back to work on site. I returned to the office at a fit 122 pounds (I am 5’3″). One year later I am 10 pounds heavier, and still 5’3″. Whaaaat?! How did that happen? For me it’s been a combination of severe work stress coupled with no lunch breaks with Hailey, scanty meditation and yoga practice, almost no drumming and only eating healthy when time allows. I don’t want to play office politics here, but why not a hybrid environment? So many business like the one I work for are hybrid.

Breathing…you may not know this but I am an Ayurvedic Lifestyle Counselor, Health and Nutrition Coach and Meditation Teacher… and this is why I am highly frustrated with myself. Aren’t I supposed to know better?

This post will be the first in my journey to get back to being healthy, not only in body, but mind and spirit. I would love for you to join me. I’m counting on you holding me accountable.

I thought about trying the Whole30 or an anti inflammatory diet I was researching but instead I decided to simply eat whole and wholesome foods. I will not be cutting out foods groups, but perhaps limiting some. I’m also going to put me first again…spend time in asana and meditation. While I cannot bring Hailey to work, I can try to move more and be present. But what about drumming…I’m not sure…

This week I’m meal prepping with this recipe, you might recognize it, Red Lentil Cauliflower Curry:

I plan on taking this for lunch and having as a go to on nights I work later.

Goals this week:

  • Walk Hailey twice a day
  • Practice meditation + asana
  • Eat wholly, wholesome foods

Starting without specifics for now. Just want to get started and not be disappointed in myself.

Hope you have a great week!

Jackie
